Time travelling to 1666!

We were able to travel back in time to talk to Samuel Pepys today! He told us a lot about 1666 and we asked him lots of questions about the great fire of London. If you look on Badger's blog you can see the portraits they created too.

Fighting the fire!

We have been fighting the fire today with our water squirts, leather buckets and fire hooks. It has been extremely hot and terrifying. The wind has blown the fire across the houses. Look out on Badgers blog for the news reports from the fire!

Interview with a maid

Today we did some thought tracking to show what the poor maid who died in the fire was thinking and feeling. Then we had an interview with a maid! We asked some amazing questions!

A very interesting delivery

This morning we had a special delivery from an archaeology team in London. They sent us a letter and a box that they had dug up near St Paul's cathedral and asked us to find out more about it.

 In the box was a posh brooch, some string and some old paper that smelt of cheese and a very old diary. The letter from the archaeology team told us a bit of information and we found out lots more when we read the diary. We wondered why on earth this box ended up in the ground with cheese, wine, a brooch and a diary in it. So, we set to work researching our archives straight away to see what we could find out! 

Fire in the bakery

The Great fire of London 1666 started because a little spark jumped out of a fire in the bakery in Thomas Farynor's bakery in Pudding Lane.

A maid died in the fire because she was too scared to jump. She told us all about it and we asked her lots of questions.
